Minesto speaks at national workshop on funding and project development
Earlier this week, Minesto participated in a workshop in Cardiff called 3rd UK National Workshop on Funding and Project Development – Marine Energy: A Driver of the Atlantic Economy.
The aim of the event was to showcase flagship developments and highlight the potential of the marine energy sector in invigorating coastal economies on the Atlantic seaboard, and to promote cross-border and transnational co-operation.
Minesto was invited as speakers at the workshop and Osian Roberts, Business Developer at Minesto presented the Deep Green technology and the operations in Wales; progress made so far and the prospects ahead. Other speakers at the event included Ken Skates, Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure as well as representatives from the European Commission, the UK Government and the industry.
“It was a successful event which outlined the true potential of growth in the marine energy industry in Wales, the UK and the Atlantic area. A message that was continuously brought up was that we are facing a fantastic opportunity, and all players involved need to make sure that we have the capabilities to achieve it“, said Osian Roberts.
The workshop was sponsored by Lesley Griffiths AM, Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs, and hosted by the Welsh Government in partnership with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE), the Commission’s Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME), the UK Government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Support Team for the Atlantic Action Plan.
