Unlocking the predictable power of tidal currents in the Faroe Islands
The COP26 summit is approaching and with it vital discussions regarding the global energy transition agenda. The world needs more clean energy generation that is predictable to complement wind and solar PV and to reduce the need for long-term storage. With energy from tidal and ocean currents in the mix, we can build truly sustainable and resilient energy systems.
Our customer SEV is an energy transition pioneer. Looking at different solutions to achieve Faroe Islands’ 100% renewable electricity by 2030 objective, SEV has been working with Minesto over the last few years to explore how tidal stream energy can form an integral part of the Faroese grid mix.
In this video, we summarise our hands-on work so far to unlock that predictable source of power in the Faroe Islands.
